The versatile Toyota Corolla
The best cars of the past 12 months
The Toyota Corolla in 2025 is more versatile than ever. Toyota offers it as a sedan, hatchback, GR, and Cross – four personalities, one tech- nical foundation.
The sedan remains the most comfortable choice. With a longer wheel- base and generous legroom in the rear, it is ideal for frequent drivers and commuters. The classic, separate trunk keeps things organized but is less flexible. Those who drive long distances often will find this the most balanced option.
The hatchback focuses on compactness and flexibility. Its shorter di- mensions make city maneuvering easier, and the foldable rear seats increase everyday practicality. Rear-seat space is slightly tighter, though. Visually, it looks sportier and mainly appeals to urban drivers.
The efficient hybrid dominates the powertrain options. With around 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers, it excels in city traffic thanks to its quiet, often electric operation. The gasoline engine remains as a cheaper al- ternative with slightly more power.
For driving enthusiasts, the Toyota GR Corolla is available: 300 hp, all-wheel drive, and manual transmission offer real driving fun, albeit at a higher price and with less everyday practicality.
The Toyota Corolla Cross completes the lineup as an SUV variant with a higher seating position and plenty of space – ideal for families.
Conclusion: Few compact models in 2025 offer such a range. The Corolla remains an all-rounder with clearly defined variants.

Pumpkin Risotto for 4 people
You have to try that!
Ingredients: 300 g risotto rice, 500 g pumpkin (Hokkaido or Butternut), 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves, 1 l vegetable broth, 100 ml white wine, 50 g Parmesan, 2 tbsp butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg.
Preparation: Peel and seed the pumpkin, then cut into small cubes. Finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté in 1 tbsp butter until translucent. Add the rice and lightly toast it, then deglaze with white wine. Gradually add the hot vegetable broth, stirring constantly, until the rice is creamy and al dente (about 18–20 minutes). Add the pumpkin cubes after 10 min- utes. When the rice is done, stir in the remaining butter and Parmesan, and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Serve the risotto hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Tip: For extra flavor, sprinkle some roasted pumpkin seeds on top. This dish is perfect for chilly winter days and combines velvety creami- ness with nutty pumpkin flavor.

For hunters and their fans
Things to laugh about.
A mushroom picker observes two hunters struggling to drag a shot wild boar to their car. After a while, he laughs and says: "No wonder you’re having such a hard time. You’re pulling opposite to the direction of the bristles."
The two thank him for the tip and start pulling in the direction of the bristles. A few minutes later, one hunter says to the oth- er:
"Well, it’s easier now, but unfortunately we’re also moving fur- ther away from our car!"

What’s the difference between a successful and an unsuccess- ful hunter?
The successful hunter has the bunny in his backpack, the rifle on his shoulder, and the dog standing by his side.
The unsuccessful hunter has the bunny in bed, his hand on the rifle... and the dog isn’t standing!
